Biography

Koen E.A. van de Sande received a BSc in Computer Science (2004), a BSc in Artificial Intelligence (2004), MSc in Computer Science (2007) and PhD in Computer Science (2011) from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Currently, he works as a staff engineer in Qualcomm Research Netherlands. He was previously a guest researcher at the University of Amsterdam and worked in R&D at University spin-off Euvision Technologies before it was acquired by Qualcomm (2011-2014). His research interests include computer vision, object recognition and localization, machine learning, parallel computing and large-scale benchmark evaluations (PASCAL VOC, TRECVID and ImageNet). At Qualcomm Research he is bridging the gap between the latest techniques developed in academia and real-world, large-scale computer vision applications.
